Seventy years ago, in 1947, Canada reluctantly opened its doors to displaced persons (DP) living in Europe. Between 1947 and March 1950, Canada granted admission to over 98,000 DPs. Only 11,064, or 11.3%, were Jews - Holocaust survivors. Once in Canada, 55% of survivors went to Montreal, 35% to Toronto; and 10% to the rest…
