Shaar Shalom Cemetery
The Shaar Shalom Congregation owns and operates its own cemetery in accordance with Conservative Judaism. A stone commemorating the dedication of the Shaar Shalom Cemetery was laid on October 18, 1953. In July 2019, the Esther and Morris Strug Memorial Garden was created to provide a covered seating area and ritual wash station with gardens on each side. In 2021 the cemetery area was expanded to cover the entire land parcel. This expansion was made possible through another generous donation in memory of Esther and Morris Strug.
The cemetery is located in Halifax on Connaught Avenue just below the corner of Windsor Street. Visits are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the synagogue office.
Note: Photographs of recent headstones may not have been taken yet.
Agudath Achim Society of Yarmouth
The Shaar Shalom Congregation also maintains the cemetery for the Agudath Achim Society of Yarmouth. The Agudath Achim Congregation existed from 1906 until 2007, when the synagogue was closed and sold.
