Torah Over Zoom: Organ Donation (Part II)
January 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
On Tuesday, January 26 at 7:00 pm, please join in as we continue our weekly Torah study. This week we will continue our study of some timely and pressing issues.
You may be aware that the law governing organ and tissue donation has changed in NS on Sunday, January 18. According to NS Provincial law, we are now all potential organ donors, having presumed consent, unless we opt-out.
What does Jewish tradition and law have to say about “presumed consent,” and how should we respond as Jews? Join us for what will undoubtably be a lively discussion of the issue of “presumed consent” using Jewish sources.
You may also find the materials from last week’s class on organ and tissue donation helpful and interesting as we move forward in this complex issue: for a responsum (position paper) of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Rabbinical Assembly by Rabbi Joseph Prouser, click here; for Rabbi Prouser’s sample text of a “Donation Card,” click here.
