Tish’a b’Av Begins Monday evening, August 12
The saddest day of the Jewish year, and the only major (25-hour) fast besides Yom Kippur, begins in a couple of days. Tzom kal – a comfortable and meaningful fast to all.
* The fast will begin on Monday at 8:24 pm
* We will gather at the Shaar to read Eikhah, the Book of Lamentations, at 8:30 pm . The reading will also be accessible via StreamSpot (with apologies in advance for the dark lighting in the sanctuary).
* Following the reading, those who wish are invited to remain to hear and discuss the life experience of Dor Shachar, a Palestinian Arab Muslim who converted to Judaism (beginning approximately 9:30 pm).
* The fast will end on Tuesday, August 13 at 8:46 pm
