The Spring-Summer months of Tammuz and Av represent a sad period of time in Jewish history: the events leading to the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the two Temples\, culminating in the fast day of Tish’a b’Av. \nJoin us as we continue our study of some of the Talmudic aggadot (Rabbinic legends) written in response to Ḥorban haBayit\, the destruction of the (first and) second Jerusalem Temple(s). \nJust log on to Zoom on Tuesday evening at 7:00.

DESCRIPTION:Tish’a b’Av – Saturday night\, July 17 – Sunday\, July 18  \nThere are two major fast days in the Jewish year: Yom Kippur (the joyous\, or “white” fast) and Tish’a b’Av (the sad\, or “black” fast). This year\, Tish’a b’Av begins following Shabbat\, July 17. \nJoin us this Saturday night at 9:30 pm as we usher Shabbat out with (a modified) havdallah\, take off our leather shoes\, and read the book of Eikhah (Lamentations). \nIf you would like to chant a portion of the book of Eikhah – anything from a verse or a few to a full chapter – please contact Rabbi Karlin. \n
