His passion for child rights and protection led him to establish The Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative at Dalhousie. The Dallaire Initiative is a global partnership with the mission to end the recruitment and use of child soldiers. This mission was inspired by his experience as the UN Force Commander leading the peacekeeping mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR). \nThis event is free and open to the public. SUMMARY:Shabbat Morning Service
DESCRIPTION:Shabbat morning services begin at 9:15 a.m. every Saturday.  Shabbat liturgy\, nusach and Divrei Torah delivered by our Rabbi make each Shabbat inspiring for those attending.  There are also many occasions throughout the year when the congregation will hold special Shabbat services\, from a scholar-in-residence Shabbat to a university student Shabbat and more. \nCongregants are encouraged to contribute to Shabbat services by chanting a Haftorah or delivering a D’var Torah.  Please contact the Rabbi to make arrangements.  The Rabbi will also be happy to guide you along the way.

DESCRIPTION:Flutist Adrienne Greenbaum\, expert in Klezmer music\, will be coming to Halifax April 9th\, 2017\, and is inviting participants and observers to the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.  If students are coming from Hebrew School they can pack a lunch and have it on the way to the Conservatory (6199 Chebucto Road). \nAll are welcome.  This is a great chance to learn about Klezmer music and perform it also!
