DESCRIPTION:On Sunday February 3rd\, the family of Shifra Richman gathered in Winnipeg for the funeral and burial of Shifra’s late husband\, Dr. Alex Richman\, who passed away at the age of 90.\nLong-time members of the Shaar Shalom Synagogue\, the Richmans were unable to be joined in Manitoba by many of those who knew and loved Alex in Halifax. On Sunday\, February 10th\, at 2:30 PM at the Shaar Shalom Synagogue\, Shifra Richman and her family will be remembering Alex in a memorial service that family\, friends\, and community members are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.\nYehi zikhrono livrakhah–may Alex’s memory be for a blessing.

SUMMARY:Chai Mitzvah Study and Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for the next session of our Chai Mitzvah series! \nChai Mitzvah is a program to enhance Jewish engagement. Like a book group\, Chai Mitzvah network groups meet monthly for meaningful text-based discussions. What sets Chai Mitzvah apart from education programs is that each person in the group builds their ‘Jewish Bucket List’ by adopting or deepening a spiritual practice\, engaging in a social action project of their choosing\, and identifying something Jewish to learn about.  \nAfter meeting for nine months\, participants receive a certificate of completion and a tree is planted in Israel in their honour.  Our monthly group will convene on the last Monday of each month at 7:15pm\, unless otherwise indicated. \nFor questions about the group\, please contact our member Mitch McNeil (mitspooner@gmail.com)\, who facilitates the class. Our focus for February’s session is Menuchat HaNefesh (“Equanimity”).
