It is the first in a cycle of stories that occur in the mythical Jewish city of fools known as Chelm. \nAlisa Snyder\, illustrator\, will be at the screening.\nAlisa Snyder\, Lubin illustrator is a painter whose primary subjects have been the figure\, still life and landscape. Central to her practice is an emotional response to nature and painting in history. She has taught classes in drawing and watercolour\, and for several years\, taught art history at Mount St. Vincent University. Her love of music has always been a part of her life and practice as a visual artist and illustrating David Yang’s score and story was a special pleasure. \nRAZZMATAZZ FOR KIDS \n \nSandy Greenberg and Thomas Cormier of Razzmatazz for Kids will get you hugging someone you love\, clucking like a chicken\, riding a bumpy bus\, singing\, hopping\, dancing\, clapping your hands\, or performing on stage with them at their fun children’s concert of both well-known and original songs. They have been delighting young audiences for over 20 years at festivals\, special events\, and schools. Sesame Street made a music video of their song\, “Going to my Grandma’s”. Razzmatazz for Kids was invited to perform for the First Ladies of the United States and Canada at the National Library in Ottawa\, and has been a featured performer with Symphony Nova Scotia. Razzmatazz for Kids has won “Children’s Recording of the Year” at the East Coast Music Awards\, “Children’s Group of the Year” from Music Nova Scotia\, and a “Recommended” Award from Parents’ Choice in the United States. This show\, for the Atlantic Jewish Film Festival\, will include songs in English\, Yiddish and Hebrew.

SUMMARY:Atlantic Jewish Film Festival - "Carvalho's Journey"
DESCRIPTION:English\, Documentary\, with special guest\, Adrian Fish \nDirector / Producer / Writer: Steve Rivo    Narrator: Michael Stuhlbarg\nDistributor: The National Center for Jewish Film\nCountry: USA    Year: 2015     Running Time: 85 minutes\nA real-life 19th century American western adventure story about Solomon Nunes Carvalho\, an observant Sephardic Jew born in 1815 in Charleston\, South Carolina. In 1853\, traveling with John Fremont’s 5th Westward Expedition\, Carvalho became one of the first photographers to document the sweeping vistas and treacherous terrain of the far American West. Living alongside mountain men\, Native Americans\, and Mormons\, Carvalho overcame enormous odds to produce beautiful art: daguerreotypes that became the lens through which the world experienced the West. \nIn partnership with Photopolis: The Halifax Festival of Photography
